Our Tennessee Wine Story
The vision for Hillside Winery was to offer a style of wine unique to the East Tennessee area. In 2008, we decided to open our doors in the middle of the Great Smoky Mountains, and offer those visiting the area as well as the locals a taste of Italy. From our Pinot Grigio to our Black & Blue, visitors have come to love each and every one of our wines. When you’re at Hillside, you are in the heart of Tennessee Wine Country.
Being the largest grape crushing facility in the region, we decided to explore carbonated wines. Carbonated wines are similar to Champagne in appearance. We make our bubbly wine by infusing carbon dioxide directly into the finished wine, and as the CO2 dissolves it makes the tiny bubbles that gives our bubbly wine the champagne like appearance. The final product is a light, effervescent treat that we are sure you will absolutely love drinking. As our Master Winemaker says, “Tiny bubbles tend to make life just a bit easier!”

Partnering with local grape farmers, Hillside Winery is responsible for crushing over 856,000 pounds of Tennessee grapes annually for our wines. Join us today to sample our Italian style and Bubbly wines. We also offer tours of the winery Tuesday – Saturday from Noon – 5 p.m. with families and children welcome. Free wine tastings are available to all those 21 years and older with a photo I.D.
